Although I started playing the piano early (age 5) my lessons were cut short when at age 8 my parents moved from NYC to Miami Beach, Florida. Subsequently I played trombone in school band from the 5th grade on and started playing rock n roll Farfisa organ sometime in junior high school. It was not until I was a senior in high school that I first heard jazz music, and by the time I turned 20 years old I decided to drop out of college and turn my full attention towards learning how to play jazz piano. My first attempts in composing music were around that time period (1971-72). It is hard to believe that it has been 40 years since I made that decision to dedicate my life to this wondrous music we call “Jazz”.
Sometime in the late 1980’s I realized that the “future” of this music would be somehow connected to the “global” world that we live in, and the many disparate cultures and aesthetics that have adopted the musical essence of “Jazz” or improvised music. As my attention turned towards other cultures and I began traveling around the world, sharing my music, a series of relationships developed with musicians from different cultures. I was able to form musical groups with artists from countries such as Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, Hungary, Switzerland, Poland, Finland and many others.
Thanks to everyone for the tremendous support and interest you have shown in my music. As you enter this web site I hope you enjoy the many different musical personalities you will meet along the way. Thanks for visiting!!
